ADI, Association for Industrial Design, was founded in 1956 by bringing together professionals who have design as a common point. Since the 1960s, he has received the organization of the Compasso d’Oro Award, the oldest award dedicated to industrial design, born from an idea of \u200b\u200bGio ‘Ponti and until then under the patronage of the Rinascente.<\/p>\n

The projects awarded in these sixty years of history, together with those that have received the Honorable Mention, over time become part of the Historical Collection of the Compasso d’Oro ADI Award, entrusted to the ADI Foundation.<\/p>\n

After a troubled path of construction, including pandemics, reclamations and appeals, finally in May 2021 the ADI Design Museum will also be inaugurated, recovering a building from the 1930s that served as a tram depot as well as a power plant.<\/p>\n

More than 5,000 square meters, an industrial space renovated to enhance the history of industrial design thanks to a substantial permanent collection, but also to temporary exhibitions: the one dedicated to Giulio Castelli (entrepreneur and key figure in the birth of the Association) has opened the exhibition program. itself), to Renata Bonfanti (among the first and highest examples of Italian textile designers), and the \u201cUno a Uno\u201d review which reflects on the pairing of objects similar in function but different in shape.<\/p>\n

But the exhibition is not the only purpose of the spaces designed by Migliore + Servetto with Italo Lupi: the Officina Design Lounge, a project by Marco Ferrari united but disconnected from the museum as such, is integrated into the rooms.<\/p>\n

In fact, you can access the Officina Design Shop without a ticket, a bookshop dedicated to the culture of design where meetings and events will take place, and the Officina Design Caf\u00e8, within an internal gallery that serves as a public passage. \u201c[\u2026] An extraordinary situation in itself.
