Franco Angeli was born in Rome in 1935. He starts painting only in 1957.<\/p>\n

Through these years he is called to serve and when he comes back he meets Edgardo Mannucci, main sculptor of the Italian informal plastic art.<\/p>\n

In 1960, after meeting Pierre Restany, he presents his first personal exposition at La Salita Gallery, in Rome. Here he exhibits a series of informal works made with nylon tights, bandages and oil paints.\u00a0<\/p>\n

In the same year he meets artists like Mario Schifano and Giuseppe Uncini.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Pierre Restany is a strong and essential presence during his career. In 1963 he exhibits at Galerie J in Paris, during the exhibition curated by Restany himself, with artists like Christo, Kudo, Todd and others.\u00a0<\/p>\n

In 1967 he takes part in the \u201cFestival dei Due Mondi of Spoleto\u201d, where he meets Marina Ripa di Meana and at whom he will dedicate a series of five works in 1970, such as Marina estensione infantile del sentimento<\/em> and Marina Mia<\/em>. He also takes some pictures of her during their relationship, that have been put on auction in 2021.<\/p>\n

During his activity, his political ideas are often expressed in his works, like Stelle<\/em> (1961) and Cimitero<\/em> (1964). He often honors artists like A Pollock<\/em> (1957) or Omaggio a Max Ernst<\/em> (1987).\u00a0<\/p>\n
